This area favors the left but there are plenty of beach breaks, A frames and rights to enjoy!

Playa Santana (7 mins walk or 2ish min drive)
Secret Beachie (right out front. Only works in Sept)
Magnific Rock (10mins walk or 5ish min drive)
Popoyo (5 min drive or 20min walk)
Guasacate Beachie (10min drive)
Playgrounds/Panga Drops/Colorados/ and many more all accessible by boat.
Several other world class breaks within a 5-20 minute drive away (car or boat)

Type of Waves

While there are plenty of spots to find mellower rides (Beginners Bay at MagRock or Popoyo on a higher tide), in general, this area of Nicaragua can produce fast and hollow waves so expect lots of barrels!

Best time to go

Beginners: Nov - April (Dry Season. Less swell, more mellow waves, better weather)
Intermediate +: May - Sept (Wet Season. More consistent swell and more size)
Closed: October
Jenna’s Fav time to go: May and June. I like challenging and sizable waves and these months are just right for me as they are at the start of the swell season, giving me what I’m looking. Fair warning: May can get hot in Nicaragua! June starts to bring a bit of rain and cloud cover, which helps cut the heat.

Hands down - THE FOOD! Also, being beachfront at a reasonable cost and taking a dip in their luxurious pool overlooking the surf made me feel like a rockstar!

Jenna's Tip

99 does a great job of prioritizing surf and getting you the best coaches in the area! But if he’s available, ask for Pro. 99 organized a coaching session for me with Pro and it was seriously one of the best coaching sessions I’ve ever had!

Jenna's Fav Wave

Finca Popoyo! Challenging but forgiving and so fun! Can get crowded but super manageable as you can surf it at all tides, it’s an a frame, and there’s another peak with more epic waves just a quick paddle over. Plus there are over 20 incredible, world-class waves, all within a 5-20 minute drive (car or boat). You’ll find plenty of waves here.

Jenna's Room Preference

You can’t go wrong with any of the rooms, but it was pretty rad to be in the Ocean Suite which is right on the beach! Highly recommended!
